|
On 28th May 2011 at 10:30 am, Alzheimer’s Pakistan Rawalpindi Chapter
(APRC) organized a support group for caregivers in Garrison Officers
Mess (Old Artillery Mess) Rawalpindi. The get together was attended by
caregivers, doctors and volunteers. It provided a unique opportunity to
caregivers to spend some time away from stressful and highly demanding
environments of care giving. It also helped them to share and exchange
their experiences of care giving with other caregivers and specialist
doctors. Although mutual exchange of views was open on any aspect of
care giving, however, in order to derive maximum benefits of this event,
an effort was made to focus the discussion on how to handle anxiety,
depression, paranoia, illusion and delusion.
President APRC was the chief guest who also narrated his personal
experiences of care giving. The President APRC presented a shield to Ms
Pakiza Zafar; a volunteer of APRC who had won Silver Medal in her
Masters in Behavioral Sciences. At the end tea and snacks were served
during which the participants continued to exchange views with each
other. The event was yet another success of APRC in pursuit of its
mission. |
