Civil Services Academy visited Alzheimer’s Pakistan

A group of 30 Probationary Officers of the 36th Common Training Program of the Civil Services Academy visited Alzheimer’s Pakistan on Sept 4-5, 2009 for getting an experience in Community Service. The group was led by Ms. Arifa Saboohi, Director (CTP), Civil Services Academy, Lahore.

The group visited Fatima Memorial Medical College, Lahore on Sept 4, 2009 to attend a seminar on Alzheimer’s Disease. Through the seminar, they were informed about Alzheimer’s disease, its prevalence, diagnosis & treatment, its psychosocial impact, care giving issues and the services provided by Alzheimer’s Pakistan. The resource persons included Prof. Dr. Humayun Maqsood, Principal Fatima Memorial Medical College, Dr. Imran Ijaz Haider, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry Fatima Memorial Medical College and Prof. Dr. Yasmin Raashid, Patron of Alzheimer’s Pakistan.

On Sept 5, 2009 the group visited the Alzheimer’s Pakistan office and also visited the Day Care Center. They met the people with dementia and presented them with a bouquets of flowers. They also spent time with people with dementia and played games like carom board, etc.

     
Mr. Hussain Jafri, Secretary General of Alzheimer’s Pakistan thanked the group for visiting Alzheimer’s Pakistan and hoped that these probationary officers will become volunteers of Alzheimer’s Pakistan and help in the development of services for people with dementia in the country.
