Rawalpindi Chapter
Park Show
A park show was held on the
evening of 17th Sep 2011 at Jinnah Park Rawalpindi in which local drama
artists presented a play of about 45 minutes. The purpose of this show was
to bring public awareness about Alzheimer's disease, its related disorders,
its effects on the family / society and the importance of good care giving
techniques. The play attracted a large number of people who not only enjoyed
the show but also received APRC message in a very effective manner.
Launching Ceremony of
Caregivers' Guide Book.
Launching Ceremony of
Caregivers' Guide Book. In the evening of 21st Sep 2011 a ceremony was held
in Islamabad Club in which caregivers' Guide Book written by Mian Abdul
Basit, General Secretary APRC was launched. Professor Dr. Mowadat Hussain
Rana, Commandant Armed Forces Institute of Mental Health was the chief
guest. General Secretary APRC introduced the book and the purpose for which
it has been written. The chief guest praised the efforts of its writer and
talked about its requirement and its usefulness. The book was also available
free of cost to the guests who showed great interest in the book and APRC
brochures.
WAD Dinner
WAD Dinner. A dinner was
hosted on 21st Sep 2011at Islamabad Club which was attended by selected
doctors, caregivers, social workers and guests from elite class of twin
cities. Professor Dr. Mowadat Hussain Rana, Commandant Armed Forces
Institute of Mental Health was the chief guest. Before dinner, his address
was the main focus of interest for the guests which was followed by an
interesting question and answer session. 120 guests attended the dinner.
Radio Program
"Radio Pakistan
Rawalpindi aired an introductory chat with the President APRC; Brig.
Munawar Ahmed Rana (Retd.) of over 6 minutes on the evening of 21 Sep
2011. It was part of their popular 50 years old Punjabi Program called :
Jamhoor ne Waz" i.e. Voice of the people, that has a vast audience in
rural and semi-urban areas of the Punjab."
Television Talk Show
Television Talk Show. On 23rd
Sep 2011, ATV invited APRC to participate in its popular program "Morning
with Farah". Brigadier Munawar Ahmed Rana (Retired), Major Mian Abdul Basit
(Retired) and Doctor Asad Tameezuddin Nizami (Psychiatrist) participated in
the program for about 30 minutes. Introduction to the disease and the
welfare efforts being made by APRC were very elaborately explained.
Caregivers' Guide Book was also shown in the program for free distribution
to all those who need it. During the program, a strip continuously displayed
addresses and contact details of APRC. The feedback of this program has been
extremely encouraging. |
